We have a population of all the students. We take a sample of students. Let there be 100 students in our sampe: "53" nutrition students and "47" engineering students. We administer the questionnaire to all the engineering and nutrition students in our sample. The students' answers to one question from the questionnaire are:

Using Pivot Table in Excel we build a table with the rows 1 --- Nutrition, 2 --- Engineering and the columns 1, 2, 3 and 4 which are four possible answers to the question.

We have the observed values and we get the expected values. Then we calculate "\\chi^2" value:

"\\chi^2\\approx 2.56"

Critical value "\\approx 7.81".

"\\chi^2<" Critical value. So we accept "H_0:" there is no significant difference in the answers of the nutrition and engineering students.
