Following are the five reasons for organizing data into a frequency distribution:
- When raw data is organized in the form of frequency distribution then it can be easy to understand data. For example: if frequency of a class 10 - 19 is 15 then we can say clearly that 15 data are in the range of 10 to 19. But it is not easy to answer it by visualizing raw data.
- We can predict the shape of distribution of data with help of frequency distribution. For example: if frequency starts from low to maximum then it will be negatively skewed shape or left skewed shape.
- We can use statistical tools when data is organized in a frequency distribution.
- We can plot the graph like histogram or bar chart if data is converted as frequency distribution with help of excel or other statistical tools.
- We can compare two or more data sets with each other with help of frequency distribution by keeping class interval same.
