Distinguish between verbal and object counting. Provide TWO (2) examples
of verbal counting and TWO (2) examples of object counting.
Verbal counting involves a child learning a list of number words.
For example, children just remember the numbers order: one, two, three, four, five and so on.
They also can learn these numbers using simple songs or poems with numbers.
Object counting consists of naming how many items there are, which are labeled with a number word by adults or older children. This enables children to build meaning for number words such as telling how many.
For example, a child has 5 apples and should count how many apples it have.
Or they can count the number of soft cubes with numbers on each.
