In a triangle, a median is a line joining a vertex with the mid-point of the opposite side.
A median of a trapezoid is the segment that joins the midpoints of the nonparallel sides (legs).
In statistics the median is the middle number in a sorted, ascending or descending, list of numbers and can be more descriptive of that data set than the average.
