Question #187727

  1. Michael is going to share the cost of his cell phone with his parents by contributing half of the cost. He has a summer job cutting grass in the neighbourhood, the going rate for cutting grass is $10.50 per hour. Micheal also wants to save 1/2  of his earnings for his own use next year. How many hours will he have to cut grass to pay for his share of the cell phone?

Expert's answer

If the price of a cell phone is $1,000, then Michael should accumulate 1,000×0.5 = $500 as a share for buying a cell phone and the same sum of $500 for his own use next year. So, he will have to cut grass for 1,000/10.5=95.241,000/10.5 = 95.24 hours.
