Matrix Q is orthogonal if its transpose is equal to its inverse: Q*=Q^(-1)If matrix A is symmetric then A*=A and det(A)=det(A*)=1,det(AA*)=detA*detD=1. But concussion about orthogonality of A isn't follow from this statement.
