Question #200599

How many cubic cm of wood are required to build a box without a lid (cover) if the wood is 1cm. thick and if the internal length, breadth and depth of the box are 30cm, 15cm and 25cm, respectively?

Expert's answer

External length of the cuboid = 30 cm

External breadth of the cuboid = 25 cm

External height of the cuboid = 25 cm

Therefore, External volume of the cuboid = (30 × 25 × 20) cm³

                            = 15000 cm³

Therefore, Internal volume of the cuboid = (28 × 23 × 18) cm³

                            = 11592 cm³

Therefore, Volume of wood = External Volume - Internal Volume

= 15000 cm³ - 11592 cm³

= 3408 cm³
