Use the value 3.14 for π, and do not round your answer. Be sure to include the correct unit in your answer.

Step 1.

Area of the square = L²

= 8cm x 8cm

= 64 cm²

Step 2.

Area of the circle = πr²

Where r = 8/2

= 4cm

π = 3.14

Therefore;

Area of a circle = 3.14 x 4²

= 50.24cm²

Step 3.

Area of the shaded region = Area of the square - Area of the circle

= 64cm² - 50.24cm²

= 13.24cm²
