In order theory, a Hasse diagram (/ˈhæsə/; German: [ˈhasə]) is a type of mathematical diagram used to represent a finite partially ordered set, in the form of a drawing of its transitive reduction.

The Hasse diagram is drawn according to the following rules: (i) if x ≺ y then x is placed below y, (ii) no edge is implied by transitivity, and (iii) all edges whose orientation is omitted go upwards.
