The cartesian product of two sets is the relation of one set to the other set.

Consider the example.

We have sets A={1,2,3} and B={4,5}

Cartesian product of AB is {(1,4),(1,5),(2,4),(2,5),(3,4),(3,5)}

Cartesian product can be written as

{"(x,y)|x\\in A, y\\in B" }

Applications:

Set theory is used in almost every discipline including engineering, business, medical and related health sciences, along with the natural sciences. In business operations, it can be applied at every level where intersecting and non-intersecting sets are identified. For example, the sets for warehouse operations and sales operations are both intersected by the inventory set. To improve the cost of goods sold, the solution might be found by examining where inventory intersects both sales and warehouse operations.
