Question #114982

Does deductive reasoning always work? Elaborate your answer

Expert's answer

Valid deductive reasoning always yields logically true conclusions since deduction is essentially tautological — a restatement or an instance which defines one of more of the premises.

But logically true conclusions don’t mean sound or non-fallacious conclusions. That requires both valid structure and sound premises.
