On the moon the acceleration of gravity is 1.6 m/sec2. If a rock is dropped into a crevasse, how fast will it be going just before it hits the bottom 30 seconds later.
The acceleration is constant, so the velocity is proportional to the time:
"v = at = 1.6\\,\\mathrm{m\/s^2}\\cdot 30\\,\\mathrm{s} = 48\\,\\mathrm{m\/s}" and it is directed downwards.
