Solution. Let x be the width of the children's play area. Hence, according to a statement of the problem the length of children's play area is equal to 2x and the perimeter of children's play area should be 900 feet. Therefore one gets

"x+2x+x+2x=900"

"6x=900 \\Longrightarrow x=150"

As a result, the width of children's play area is equal to 150 feet and the length of the children's play area is equal to 300 feet.

Answer. width is 150 feet, length is 300 feet
