A manufacture id marketing swimming pools. The size of the pool varies depending on the buyer, but the pools are always made so that the ratio of the length to the width is 5:2. Each pool is also desighed so that a 5 foot concrete walkway surrounds the pool.---

Denote the width& of the swimming pool as X, so the length would be 5/2X. If there is a 5 feet walkway, we should add to each side of the pool 5 feet more.
Thus the perimeter is 2*(width +5 feet + length + 5 feet) = 2(X + 5/2X + 10) = 7X + 20
Answer: the total length is 7X& + 20, there X is the width of the pool.
