There are three steps to divide fractions:

Step 1. Turn the second fraction (the one you want to divide by) upside-down (this is now a reciprocal).
Step 2. Multiply the first fraction by that reciprocal.
Step 3. Simplify the fraction (if needed).

There is a lengthier way of dividing fractions. It involves the use of equivalent fractions to make the denominators of both fractions the same.

Step1. Find a common denominator and convert each fraction to its equivalent value.
Step2. Since the denominators now the same we can divide the numerators.
Step 3. Simplify the fraction (if needed).
