Answer to Question #130443 in Algebra for Everlyn N Ndirang

Question #130443
The graph of a function f is given. Use the graph to find each of the following.a. The numbers, if any, at which f has a relative maximum. What are these relative maxima?b. The numbers, if any, at which f has a relative minimum. What are these relative minima? The coordinates are shaped like an W. The 1st coordinate is 0.5,5. The 2nd coordinate is 0,1. The 3rd coordinate is 1,5. The 4th coordinate is 2,1. The 5th coordinate is 2.5,5

As per the question graph has been drawn above.

A function f(x) has a relative maximum value at x = if f(a) is greater than any value immediately preceding or following.

We say that a function f(x) has a relative minimum value at x = b,

if f(b) is less than any value immediately preceding or following.

From the graph it is clearly visible that the maximum point i.e peak point is at (2.5,5),(0.5,5) and (1,5) so the maximum will be 5.

Similarly from the graph it is clearly visible that the minimum point i.e lowest point is at (0,1), and (2,1) so the minimum will be 1.
