Let the number of plate be x, then number of glass be denoted by y and the number of spoon be denoted by z

as price of each plate is 5 , price of each glass is 3 and price of spoon is 1

then we can write an equation that

5x+3y+z=100

then we can obtain numerous solutions

(plate, glass, spoon) such that z is divisible by 40:

(x,y,z)=(1,5,80),

(x,y,z)=(9,5,40),

(x,y,z)=(6,10,40),

(x,y,z)=(3,15,40).

Dear JAYAKUMAR.M, (x,y,z)=(19, 3, 80) would be accepted if there were 0.025 for 1 spoon, but the question describes 1 for 40 spoons. A possibility of price less than 1 was not given in the question, that is why that option of the answer was not considered in the solution.

(5 x 19 = 95) 19 Plates, (3 x 1= 3) 1 Glass & (.025 x 80 = 2) 80 spoons

Dear Prasobh, we choose solutions such that z is divisible by 40.

Dear Sreejith, the equation 5x+3y+z=100 means the cost of plates, glasses and spoons and in fact z should be divisible by 40.

Prasobh

Its just wrong. The cost, Rs. 1 is not for a single spoon. Its the cost of 40 spoons

How foolish answer is this? Then How will they together make 100 numbers?
