here is a problem: a red car and a blue car both enter the highway at the same time and travel at the same constant speed. How far apart are they after 4 hours? what information would you need to solve the problem?

First of all, if they enter the same highway and running in the same track, then we need to know whether they are going in the same direction or opposite direction.

If they are going in the same direction, then since they both are moving with same constant speed, then even after 4 hours, both the cars are travelling side by side together.

But if they are moving in opposite direction of each other then suppose the speed of both the cars is x km/hr.

Then after 4 hours, red car will travel 4x km and the blue car will also travel 4x km, But since they are going in opposite direction, the distance between both of the cars will be "4x+4x=8x" km

So to know the distance between both of them, we need to know the speed of the car.

Conclusion: If they are moving in same direction, we don't need any extra information and the distance between both the car after 4 hr will be Zero.

And if they are moving in opposite direction, we need to know the speed of the car to know distance between them after 4 hr.
