IT infrastructure is a complex of components which provide the basis for computing and networking activities.
These components include:
- hardware, such as cables, wires, fiber, routers, hubs and other computers or programmable devices;
- software, such as network and computer operating systems, communications protocols, programming languages and communication interfaces, directories and repositories of information about these items;
- standards, which enable disparate technology workforces to coordinate their respective efforts despite working on different platforms, in different languages, etc.
