If you do not know the history of a particular thing that you are practicing then you are doomed to make mistakes that have already been made when if you had studied the history of that thing then you would have been able to learn from the mistakes of those that practiced that thing b/4 you.
You need to study management history to understand how certain theories of management developed. If you do not understand under what conditions the theories were formulated then you will not understand why the theories are still applicable or not applicable at all to today's management strategies (example: theories of management that developed in factory type settings where production was a key factor may not be as relevant now that employees are more information based and work with different goals in mind.
