1. This statement refers to South Africa, as a country being in a state of hopelessness as not only is the political leadership addressing an managing issues properly but also the crisis extends to the ruling party, public service, private sector and civil society. In this case, Malema tries to point out that while the South African government loves making plans and appointing commissions to manage development, their execution lacks decisive leadership. Consequently, this phenomena has caused the country to come to a standstill in terms of development and in some areas go backward (Beresford, 2016). Apparently, Moodley (2019) suggests that planning and money is not the problem. The problem exists among the individuals given the job. While they draw payments monthly and are aggressive to demand more, they are failures in action (Kumalo and Scheepers, 2020).
2. One influential figure in South African public sector that can fulfil the leadership requirements is the minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Ronald Lamola. Physically, Lamola is the youngest minister in the current cabinet therefore he is still energetic, inspiring and excited about accomplishing goals. In terms of personal requirements, Lamola is a proactive and selfless leader who creatively thinks about ways of addressing issues of unethical leadership. Considering skills requirement, Lamola is academically fit especially in corporate law which is essential to managing the conflation of companies and public fund exploitation. Fundamentally, he has been a spokesperson of the Mpumalanga Premier therefore can address issues when they arise.
