I believe that Strategic management is more of science to art.

Science gives knowledge while arts handle application of the knowledge acquired along with the skills. Managers need to analyze the objectives of the organization to determine if the organization is going towards the right direction. It also involves doing research about the best execution practices for example examining qualitative and quantitative data about external and internal environment before making a decision which action to take.

It involves rational thinking, planning and systematic evaluation of the action to be implemented and this is during the formulation phase environment examination which requires extensive analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data.

Finally, for the success of the organization, understanding of the market is needed and it expects to have an accurate information and analyze it scientifically.
