Explain why mergers and acquisitions (M&A) have become popular strategy within the organizational development circles in the recent past. Furthermore, discuss the role of the organization transformation (OT) practitioner in the major phases of the implementation of M&A. Use appropriate examples to illustrate your argument. [
Mergers and acquisitions have become a popular strategy within an organizational development because it overcomes any market entry barriers to enable the company to gain new customers or capture the market that was not reached with particular products or services thus allowing the organization to access a large market base and increases market share.
The role of organization transformation practitioners in the major phase of emerge and acquisitions implementations is to effectively help the organization create large-scale changes in the objectives, structure, culture, and strategies that boost the company's future performance. For example, the company may realize it has a high employees turnover due to high job pressure. The organization may decide not to allow the trend of worker turnover to continue by initiating an organizational transformation process that includes a complete replacement of all jobs and improving the existing technology to simplify tasks. Therefore the combination of efforts transforms the company into a more effective and profitable place where workers enjoy working.
