The concept of person-organisation fit (POF) has received considerable attention in the management literature. The reason for this is that research suggests that POF leads to important individual outcome variables in the workplace, including job satisfaction, organisational commitment and performance. Research also shows that an organisation’s recruitment and selection strategies and practices can have a significant impact on POF. Write an essay in which you discuss various recruitment and/or selection strategies that can be used to ensure POF. Be sure to motivate exactly why these strategies facilitate POF
The human resources managers must ensure they clearly outlined the job description to make sure the potential candidates who apply for it are fit for selection. It will be easier to shortlist those who are qualified for the job to meet the strategies that facilitate person-organization fit. Selection of new candidates should be guided by knowledge and expertise one has that will contribute in increasing the competitive advantage of the organization in future. Recruitment should be based on job satisfaction where the responsibilities of the selected employee match his or her competences as they will be aimed at higher performance to prove they are person-organization fit. The individual values should be considered during the selection to ensure the person is ready to learn from the experts through team work.
