You are the Chief of the Northern Virginia Police Department (make-believe). You must address two issues facing your department:

1.  how do you create a better relationship between 
2. your department/officers and the community allowing you to work together to solve problems.
3. You are noticing officer shortages and it’s difficult to hire new officers. How do you convince citizens to join your department and become police officers.

Please tell me how you would address the issues listed above.

I would allow better relations by encouraging community policing and encouraging officers to listen to members of the community on how to resolve their issues.

3

I would encourage the citizenry to join the force by revealing the perks that they enjoy when serving and also the call of duty to the larger community to doing the greater good in the society by joining the police force.
