Differences between mass communication and one-to-one communication
Their meanings are different. One-on-one communication is where two or more persons meet anywhere and start exchanging messages in a given social context. On the other hand, mass communication is a kind of communication with a large audience using mass media like Television.
Their processes are varying where in one-on-one communication it is two-way but for mass media, it is a one-way process.
The nature of one-on-one communication is interpersonal but in mass communication it is impersonal.
The reach-in one-on-one communication is very low compared to mass communication which is very high.
The function matters in both where in one-on-one communication it tends to advise, inform, warn, educate, suggest, persuade and motivate in mass communication, it always informs, entertains, persuades, and educates.
The feedback in one-on-one communication is instant but in mass communication, it is delayed.
One-on-one communication is from the evolution of humans while mass communication is from technological advancement.
Their elements are different wherein mass communication includes sender, receiver, message, channel, and feedback wherein mass communication includes source, massage, channel, audience, and effect.
