The transformation model is the process by which goods and services are produced by converting inputs into outputs through a process known as the transformation process. The components of the process include change of physical state, change of location of material, change of ownership and finally the accommodations of the material.

Using a jeans manufacturing process as an example, the cotton is run through machines containing brushes with bent teeth. This is called carding. Other machines join several silvers together to coil the thread a process known as spinning. The denim is then dyed and wooven. The cutting and sewing follows and finally finishing is done and the jeans are sold out to customers.
