According to functionalist school of thought corresponds both profound and implicit functions. Other ways that academic institutions educate and engage learners are recognized by functionalists. According to functionalist philosophy, schools also have the job of selecting or sorting learners based on intellectual merit or potential.

I disagree with the assertion that the theory believes education is fair and awards the best while ignoring socioeconomic disparities that may limit performance. I believe that education instills the bourgeoisie's beliefs and customs.
