Job evaluation is an appraisal of the relative values of an organization's work by comparing it to the other occupations in the external and organizational labor markets.
I endorse the assessment technique for categorization or grading. The reason I propose this method of work rating is due to its general job properties grouped at predefined grades. The advantage is that it is straightforward and takes a little time. In classification, the system is inflationary as jobs are pushed up to the next high level. The problem can also arise if one dimension does not suit everything, thus tasks are perhaps lost in grades. Individual occupations are therefore compared with sets of work characteristics which are then matched to a certain grade.
