You work as an admin assistant for three exectives. Mr. Rogers wants you to complete a long report by the end of the day. Mrs. Park needs a PowerPoint presentation, which requires research, by tomorrow morning. Ms. Gomez needs a spreadsheet analysis of sales figures completed by noon. Since you cannot complete all this work by the time required, you have a big internal customer service problem. How will you solve this problem so that none of the executives are disappointed? How can you avoid a similar problem in the future?

The best option for solving the problem is to speak with the three executives about my workload and discuss which tasks should be prioritized first, second, and third. This is my preferred alternative because no one's work will be harmed. It will be handled properly, and none of the executives will be let down.


To avoid this problem in the future we can set internal service standards. Publish the weekly itinerary so that the other executives are aware of what I have planned for the week and can plan accordingly. Communication with executives to determine the importance of the work is critical in order to prioritize it.
