  1. Heineken was first established in the year 1864 by the Heinekens family. The first brewery in Ethiopia was established in 1992. As of now, there are twelve breweries spread across Ethiopia's administrative region. Four are located at Amhara, two in Addis Ababa, one in Harari and Tigray, the region of Oromia, and the southern nations.
  2. Their main product is beer with twenty-four brands of beer brewed in Ethiopia. The beers include: Heineken pilsner,heineken lager,heineken premium light,heineken tarwebok,etc. Heineken lager has three main ingredients i.e.barley, hops, and water.
  • The opportunity behind the production of Heineken beers was the mass growth of barley in the region. The soil and the weather condition favored its growth. The Heineken project led the farmers to grow the crop professionally for commercial purposes.
  • Some of the products that Heineken buy include the raw material such as the malted barley from the farmers. It also produces some of its products such as water that facilitates the making of different brands of beer. The Heineken brewery also buys services from outside the brewery. Such services include the loading personnel, truck drivers, and security guards.
  • On the environmental aspect, Heineken products are environmental as their production does not emit gases into the air and the tangible material waste is fed to livestock and is healthy and nutritious. The product design serves right as it meets the customer demands, it is reliable as the ingredients making the product is used frequently and so there are very minimal chances of failure, and finally, it is produced easily and at a reasonable cost.
  • Heineken is at the growth stage whereby the consumers have started recognizing the product and are increasingly buying it. The management is still investing heavily in the product in order to stay at the top and beat any potential competitor.
  • Brewing a better world has been a slogan for the Heineken brewery. This has been reached through their ability to meet and exceed their customer needs. The use of quality raw material and the total quality management of their brewing has seen them to the top of the competitors' table. I would recommend the brewery to come up with new product lines targeting different types of customers i.e. beer with increased alcohol content for the heavy drinkers and sugar-free drinks for diabetic people. This will open new customer lines for them and help them overcome their competitors.
