To begin, the best way to address the challenges around obesity and weight disorders is to take a long-term approach that includes more sport and activity in schools. This strategy will ensure that future generations are healthier and have fewer health issues. Presently, the average youngster in the West participates in sports only twice a week, which is insufficient to offset their otherwise sedentary lifestyle. They will surely get fitter and more active if more sports classes are included in the curriculum, and extracurricular sports activities are encouraged.

Another factor to contemplate is that additional sports instruction in schools would likely result in youngsters acquiring an interest in exercise, which will likely spread to other family members and have a longer-term impact. In other words, parents who have athletic children are more inclined to participate in sports themselves to motivate their children.
