Individual users are responsible for safeguarding data to which they have access. Users must follow the norms of conduct outlined in appropriate Systems Security Plans, Department of Labor advice, and agency policies. Contractors working for the Department of Labor who have access to personal information must maintain the confidentiality of such information and refrain from acting in a careless or negligent manner with it. Contract employees must also refrain from engaging in office gossip and should not allow unauthorized access to records stored in a DOL system of records. Only those with a "need to know" in their official position should have access to such record-keeping systems. Employees who have been allowed access to classified information are required to keep classified material in their possession safe from unauthorized exposure. All violations of security regulations shall be reported to the proper security personnel, and all other security requirements outlined in this order and its implementing regulations should be followed. Employees are urged and expected to disclose any information that raises issues about another employee's continued eligibility for classified information.
