Government To citizen initiative

Thailand's digitalization initiatives are discussed in this report, with an emphasis on the federal government authorities' leadership positions. Thailand has advanced through numerous E- government policy structures ever since the 1990s and the recent military government is introducing a version "4.0" of cloud migration strategies to improve competitive advantage, citizen welfare, and public sector efficiency. To cope with the 'silo-ization' or 'pillarization' of public bodies, as well as the need for hierarchical leadership and collaboration, central government agencies were formed or reorganized. The difficulties of ensuring change governance and accountability are discussed.

Powerful central political support is a key characteristic of these initiatives, as shown by the Prime Leader's support for and declaration of Thailand's Electronic Government Plan 2017-2022.
