Management Style

Managers often have the obligation to act as leaders and take different approaches to lead and oversee an organization. As the management styles adopted by these managers involves setting strategies, giving direction and motivating individuals, its irrefutable that democratic leadership emerges as one of the best management styles. This style can be termed as the most effective because it values affirmation and collaboration of followers.

In the first place, democratic leadership style encourages the involvement, participation and engagement of followers in decision-making process and problem-solving while retaining the final resolution to the manager. This type of management inspires employees to set practical goals and recognizes their achievements by developing plans and helping them evaluate their performances thus pushing them to grow and gain promotions. Consequently, the provision of continuous opportunities fosters the development of employees’ sense of personal advancements, job satisfaction and team building.

Secondly, democratic leadership is the most effective because it values flexibility and adaptability allowing managers to capitalize on the strengths and talents of employees. In collaborative settings, democratic leaders ensure they keep their communication lines available which helps in finding balance between keeping things productive and on track, and remaining open to new ideas (Dunbar, 2018). This management style enables the leader to respect everyone’s’ idea and input while committing to the path of action with certainty and conviction. Thus, the leader can easily explain a decision that is made without compromising any situation.

However, while democratic leadership can best be used in management, it can potentially result in communication and project failures when roles are unclearly articulated. As a result, leaders require to develop strong individual attributes and become more committed so that to create dynamic working environments where employees are motivated and eager to succeed.
