The scientific management theory postulates that it is important to get the most effective way to finish all assigned tasks irrespective of the size. Taylor did not think it was unfair not to pay all employees equally, regardless of their output. Also, to realize high output, employees should be trained and monitored on the tasks assigned to them.

The human relations management theory suggests that there are more factors that impacts performance of worker. The theory upholds human interactions and associations. By making employees feel valuable, and monitoring them motivates them to perform on a higher level.

The system approach school of thought views management as a system of coordination of various aspects forming the parts of the entire management process. There must be consideration in the relationship and dependence of all the parts that bring about the results in a system. Good work can only be realized if efficient employees are working with good machines or vice versa.

Scientific management aim at increasing productivity and reducing cost, human relations aims at proving the significance of employees for productivity and not machines, while the system approach aims at giving equal attention to both the employees and the machines to realize high level of performance.
