Transactional and participative are the two leadership styles that are applied by the leaders in the organizations I belong. Transactional leadership style is where rewards, punishments, and other exchanges are used to get the work done or achieve goals and targets. When the employees fail to meet targets or offer substandard products and services, they are punished in different ways such that they cannot repeat the same mistake in future. When the employees achieve their goals and targets, they are rewarded as a strategy to motivate them such that they can maintain the same spirit and even improve. The leadership style has proven to be effective in the organizations as the employees are struggling to ensure they are rewarded or avoid punishment and the organization meets its goals and targets. Participative leadership the leaders consult and involve all the employees and stakeholders before making crucial decisions in the workplace. The style ensures that all the people in the organization participate in different sections to ensure the organization succeeds. In this leadership style, the employees feel part of the organization as they are involve in any decisions or consultation process that they accomplish the duties and responsibilities assigned knowing that the success of the business is their success.
