Sam is the plant manager at a bathroom vanity manufacturer. When business is brisk, employees have to work overtime to meet customers' demand. Aside from a few people, he has a horrible time getting employees to work overtime. " I practically have to beg for volunteers." What suggestions do you have for Sam?
When business is brisk, the manufacturing company generates more income; this means that the plant manager can outsource additional staff to meet customer demands (Ko & Choi, 2019). However, rather than adding more staff, Sam can still boost productivity by motivating employees through additional payments for their performances. If employees are refusing to volunteer, it means that their salary does not compensate for working overtime. Sam should consider telling his employees that they will be paid for extra hours.
