Environmental Challenge

Deforestation is the major environmental challenge that is currently facing my community. Most of the inhabitants of the community have developed a tree-cutting spree without replacement. This has led to serious vegetation destruction in the area. Being that the area is running short of trees and plants, there is a sense in which the climate in the area is changing into arid climatic conditions because the water catchment areas have been encroached and destroyed. Deforestation has also resulted in a reduction in the quantity of food production in the community because of reduced rainfall attributed to extreme e destruction of the vegetation. Deforestation has also resulted in the depletion of medicinal substances in the community since all medicines are made from trees, plants, and other forms of vegetation. One way of addressing the deforestation issue in society is by educating people on the importation of vegetation in their daily lives. Secondly, the situation could be addressed by advising people of the society to resort to other sources of income rather than charcoal burning that consequently cause deforestation. The situation can also be addressed through afforestation projects in the affected areas.
