Using 5S Technique in an Organization

The 5S technique is among the methods that an organization can apply to improve its condition. The method enhances lean production and visual control by optimizing productivity and minimizing waste. The first 'S' stands for sorting. This involves eliminating unnecessary things in the organization and prioritizing the most important things. The second 'S' represents the setting in order. In this case, one is supposed to organize the things that have remained after sorting to be used efficiently. The third 'S' stands for shining. This one involves cleaning the workplace by practicing a clean-up campaign. The fourth ‘S’ represents standardization.  This involves scheduling maintenance and cleaning by practicing the first 3'S' daily. The last 'S' involves sustaining. In this case, the organization should ensure that the first 4‘S’ practices have become a habit. By adhering to these 5'S', an organization can make a significant improvement. Therefore, ABC Ltd can use the technique.
