The terms manager and leaders are often used interchangeably. However, the two are different. Understanding the difference between the two terms is the key on determining who is more important between the two. The main distinction between a manager and a leader is that leaders influence people to follow them while managers have people to work for them.
Leaders can be viewed as personnel’s in the organization who are involved in changing the status quo so as to create a desired future. Managers on the other side are involved with implementation. The leadership sets the goals of the organization while the manager ensures the employees work towards the attainment of these goals.
Management and leadership must be combined for the success of any organization. one cannot work without the other. The leadership will need the managers to communicate their vision to the task-force.
