Explain how and why a consumer would make use of s18 of the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

ACL was purposely created to enhance the welfare of Australians by promoting fair trading competition, and through the provision of a consumer protections by approximately to cover; product safety and labelling and unfair market practices. S18 of ACL also prohibits a person in trade or commerce from engaging in disingenuous or deceptive conduct, however, the prohibition is not limited to the supply of goods or services and creates a broad, economy-wide norm of conduct.
