James Madison was concerned about the presence of George Washington and Robert Morris to increase the support for the convention. George Washington was very popular and his presence would generate massive support for the convention. Besides, Robert Morris was very influential in the State of Pennslyvania, which was a very critical state because it would be site for the implementation of the new constitution. The two broadly supported the convention and George Washington was finally elected as the president of the new constitutional convention.
