At the beginning European settlers and Indians had good relations. But the most serious was the difference in the way that the Indians and the Europeans thought about land. Owning land was extremely important to the European settlers. On the other hand, the Indians believed that no one could own land. They believed that anyone could use it. That's why relationship between white settlers and plains Indians changed.
