An electrocardiogram is a graphic record of the heart’s electrical activity. It was invented in 1903 by a Dutch physiologist who was known as Willem Einthoven. Notably, it was created to measure electrical potential changes that occur in the heart due to the contraction of its muscles (Asif & Drezner, 2016). When the electrocardiogram was invented, it was used as a tool for determining whether the heart was working properly or not as well as detecting cardiovascular anomalies and illnesses.
