Long distance trade routed were formed in the Indian Ocean which led to the influence of Swahili civilization by Arabic, Indian, Chinese, and Persian cultures. Cities such as the Swahili Coast flourished during the 10th century together wit adjacent islands such Malindi, Kilwa, Comoros, and Zanzibar.
