s I go through Fr. Vicente Balaguer and Cuerpo de Vigilancia’s testimony, I noticed a lot of differences. There are some things Balaguer mentioned in his testimony that can’t be found on Vigilancia. Also, as Balaguer mentioned his presence on the day of Rizal’s retraction a lot of times, he does not appear even a single time on Vigilancia’s testimony. Though in their testimonies, both of them reported that Rizal did retract but the time when Rizal signed the said retraction paper is different. Father Balaguer’s testimony can be questioned if either authentic because of the differences found between the text of 1935.
