1. Pretend you are the editor of a New York newspaper in early 1788. Outline an editorial supporting or opposing ratification of the Constitution. Be sure to explain why you have taken your position and include facts to support your opinion. Refer to historical incidents to support your arguments.
When the Constitution was written the thirteen states had to approve of it so it would pass since the US is a federal republic. It was controversial because anti-federalists felt a federal government was took strong and they wanted a confederation with strong states rights and a weak central government. The Articles of Confederation was originally supposed to be our guiding law but they government was took weak and so the Constitution replaced it despite continued opposition from anti-federalists. Basically the question is asking you to choose either supporting the constitution and a federal government or opposing it like the anti-federalists.
