This line in President Corazon Aquino's speech represents her faith in the US democracy at a time when she was fighting to restore peace and democracy in the Philippines. Her country had swept away absolute power and was restoring a full constitutional government by ways of democracy. The concept in this line that is important to me is that the Congress is home to American democracy. The congress indeed upholds American democracy my making laws that influence everyday lives, overseeing the executive and serving as the voice of the people and the states in the federal government.
