The regional distribution of the Neolithio Culture of India has been found in the North-Western part such as Kashmir, Southern part in places such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, the Northern Eastern frontier such as the Meghalaya, and the Eastern part of India such as Bihar and Odisha.
The characteristics of the Neolithio culture of India include:
Development of settled agriculture. Major crops grown include ragi, cotton, rice, horse gram and barley. This culture domesticated cattle, sheep and goats. They also had a hunting and fishing economy.
Use of tools and weapons made of polished stones. They used microlithic blades in addition to tools made of polished stones as well as bones. They used axes, adzes, chisels and celts.
Pottery first appeared in the Neolithic Culture and included grey ware, mat-impressed ware and black burnished ware.
The people in this culture dwelled in rectangular and circular houses which were made from mud and reed. Some also lived in mud-brick houses.
They had common rights over property and led a settled life.
